Kauai - Princeville
Set in the
rolling meadows above Hanalei Bay, site of a former sugar
plantation, Princeville is Kauai's most exclusive resort.
Its centerpiece is the opulent Princeville
Hotel; the whole
development includes several other hotels, two
golf
courses, a
shopping mall, and some great little beaches - the best
being Puupoa Beach. You can rent kayaks
here and paddle up into the Hanalei River, which flows
through taro fields and a national wildlife sanctuary. This
entire northern coast of Kauai, centered by Princeville and
the charming little village of Hanalei, is a region of lush,
primeval beauty. Lumahai Beach, where the movie South
Pacific was filmed, still has a justifiable reputation as
the most romantic beach in all Hawaii.
