Rating and General Location
This Three (3) Hibiscus Rated hotel property is situated directly on the highly desirable Kaanapali Beach. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is located directly between the Sheraton Maui to the north and the Whaler condominiums to the south.

Physical Description and Management
The property consists of four (4) guest wings ranging from three (3) to six (6) stories in height and contains 430 rooms. Buildings at Kaanapali Beach Hotel form an open horseshoe facing towards a central courtyard with lawns, pool, beach and ocean. The property is circa 1964 and has more of an "Old Hawaiiana" appearance than its flashy high-rise neighbors. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is privately owned and managed.

Guest Orientation, Common Areas and Room Locations
This property is geared for the budget oriented traveler who would like to stay directly on Kaanapali Beach. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel has three (3) restaurants, one (1) pool, two (2) meeting rooms totaling 5,000 square feet for up to 450 people, a beach activities desk and two (2) championship golf courses across from the property. The "Lanai", "Kauai", and "Molokai" wings run perpendicular to the ocean allowing views of the courtyard, garden, pool, beach or ocean. The "Maui" wing runs parallel to the ocean and sits back farthest from the beach. The "Maui" wing also houses the hotel lobby, restaurant and guest shops. Of the three (3) buildings perpendicular to the beach, the "Kauai" and "Molokai" wings are closest to the sand and ocean. The "Molokai" wing is an older, three (3) story building on the northern edge of the property and the "Kauai" wing is a newer, six (6) story building on the southern edge of the property. All other buildings at the property are situated further back from the sand and sea.

On Our Last Visit
We have visited this property on numerous occasions, as it is located in one of the most desirable locations in all of Hawaii. It is also the only budget-oriented property, if there is such a thing, on Kaanapali Beach. The property has a distinct "Old Hawaiiana" feeling with its low-rise architecture. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is not nearly as new and flashy as its neighbors but the management effectively use their "Hawaiiana" theme and home grown hospitality to their advantage. On our last visit, we inspected room number 126. There was an attractive handpainted, stenciled bedboard and armoire in the room. Room furnishings were nice with pleasant decorating touches. There was a customized bedspread with the hotel logo. The room was clean and comfortable for two people. Carpets were slightly stained, but the fabrics and bedding were in good condition. The room lanai was small but comfortable. The bathroom was average in size. Some of the cabinets in the room could use a little painting. It is important to note that some rooms in every category offer shower only. If a tub and shower combination is important to you, please request in advance. It appears that most rooms at this property will offer a pleasant view, as we did not notice any rooms looking onto the entrance or parking lot.

Room Sizes and Amenities
Standard rooms at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel run approximately 425 square feet in size. One (1) Bedroom Suites increase to over 1,800 square feet. Room amenities include coffee maker, air conditioning, in-room safe, cable TV with pay-option movies, mini refrigerator, and lanai.
