This Three (3) Hibiscus Rated property is situated in
the southern end of the Coconut Coast area of Kauai, nearer
to the airport and the town of Lihue. The busier section of
the Coconut Coast with shops, restaurants and other hotels
is located a drive north of the property, between the towns
of Kapaa to the north and Wailua to the south. As a result,
this property is somewhat out of the mainstream which could
be a positive or a negative depending on traveler
preferences. Outrigger Kauai Beach Hotel is located directly
adjacent to a sand beach suitable for sunbathing and other
sand play. Swimming is not recommended at the beach due to
dangerous undercurrents. The very popular Poipu Beach, which
is suitable for swimming, is located an approximate fifteen
(15) to twenty (20) minute drive to the south.
Physical Description
and Management
Outrigger Kauai Beach Hotel is a very attractive
property. The hotel consists of five (5) buildings ranging
from two (2) to five (5) stories in height with 341 guest
rooms. The buildings are done in off-white with red tile
roofs. The property is managed by the very professional
Outrigger organization.
Guest Orientation,
Common Areas and Room Locations
This property is suited for families, couples and
seniors seeking very attractive accommodations on Kauai at a
reasonable price. Common areas consist of beautifully
landscaped grounds, three (3) lagoon-style pools meandering
around and through an impressive rockscape grotto and
waterfall, an outdoor snack and bar area around the pool and
four (4) tennis courts with two (2) lighted for night play.
Buildings containing guest rooms are arranged in a "U"
shape. The large central courtyard and pool are located in
the center of the "U" which then opens up to the beach and
ocean. Mountain View rooms are situated on the exterior of
the "U". Pool/Lagoon and Ocean View rooms are located on the
interior of the "U".

Our Last Visit
Outrigger Kauai Beach Hotel is one of only three,
beachfront, Three (3) Hibiscus Rated properties in all of
Hawaii with rooms available for under $150 per night. This
property offers an impressive, long, lushly landscaped drive
as you approach the entrance. This grand approach is
reminiscent of what you experience with the much more
expensive luxury resorts on Maui or the Big Island of
Hawaii. The property is clean, attractive and well
maintained. The central courtyard with its lagoon-style pool
and rockscape grotto is another very appealing feature
normally found only in much more expensive properties. We
inspected room # 3031 which offers a view of the central
courtyard and lagoon pool. The room was clean and
comfortably done in the standard decor package typically
offered by the Outrigger organization. Fabrics, carpets and
bedding were in good condition. The lanai was small. The
bathroom was small and somewhat unattractive but otherwise
clean and in good condition. We also recently inspected room
# 2001 which was categorized as a Partial Ocean View. This
room also offered a great view of the pool and courtyard.
Again, the room was comfortable and nicely decorated.
Carpets were worn but clean. Fabrics, furniture and bedding
were in good condition. The bathroom was small but otherwise
clean and adequate.
Room Sizes and
Amenities
Standard guest rooms average 265 square feet with an
approximate 43 square foot lanai. Rooms offer air
conditioning, coffee maker, lanai, daily maid service,
in-room safe, color TV with pay-option movies, and a
mini-refrigerator.
